Stonebunny Press to print jazz poetry collection BLUE CITY by Dale Percy!
Stonebunny Press is pleased to announce that it's third publication will be a book of jazz poetry by Toronto poet Dale Percy.
Dale Percy has been a writer, ever since he learned how to write. Writing has become his profession as a Creative Writer in radio, and his passion with Jazz Poetry. He was always interested in poetry, but he never thought of himself as a poet, until poetry gave him a smack upside his head, which led him down a long, hard detour in life where he realized that honesty is all that matters.

Ian Rogers Guest Blog Spot
Ian Rogers, author of DEADSTOCK, posts about the Weird Western genre at the Weird Western Emporium.
For me, Westerns have always been weird.
As a kid, I never understood why people liked them. I didn't play cowboys and Indians. I never had a cowboy hat or one of those plastic six-shooters that fired caps. I always thought the Lone Ranger was a bit of a wimp, and I figured anyone who couldn't tell who he was behind that dinky little mask must be spending too much time under that hot desert sun. Maybe it's a generational thing. Most of the kids I knew didn't play cowboys and Indians, either. We played Star Wars.(Read the rest of the article.)

DEADSTOCK
by Ian Rogers
$15.00 Trade Paperback,78 pages"...what happened to them is about as close to killin' as day is to night. Those steers was ripped to pieces."
No one knows who or what is killing the cattle at Groom ranch, but Sam Dryden, with his supernatural greenwood gun, and Raisy, with her ‘deck’ of knives, are determined to find out. What they discover is more horrifying than either of them ever dreamed, and the secret may be one that takes them to the grave.
Seasoned with a dash of horror and a pinch of sci-fi, Deadstock is a tasty dish just waiting to be devoured.
Deadstock is Ian Rogers’ first foray into the wilds of the Weird West.

Writing Tips
A friend recently asked us for some tips about writing; specifically, about what works for us. Here are some of the tricks we at Stonebunny find useful to keep on track.
Eliminate distractions. Send the kids to a friend's, take the phone off the hook, do not check your email.
Try to work in a quiet room with minimal optical distractions (the room should be uncluttered, clean, the walls preferably a cool colour).
Music on low is allowed. Especially good are Solitudes, classical and soundtracks. Music without words is best, so the lyrics don't distract you. You may find that certain scores inspire your pen. One of our favourites is the soundtrack for the movie 'Gattica'.
You can use scented candles, incense or oils to create a calming atmosphere when you write.
Try to organize what you'll be writing before you start. Come up with ideas or headings, then group them and place them in order. This helps keep in mind what areas you need to focus on.
Do not worry about what order you write in. You can work on the middle of your writing first, then the beginning, then the end. Write organically.
Do not edit while you are writing. A lot of people will edit what they've written so far over and over, rather than work on anything new. Save the editing for the end.
Do your rough draft on paper. It more organic and the ideas will spill out of your pen. Working directly on the computer can be intimidating (that big blank white screen) and make you want to edit rather than write. Working on paper also removes you from email, the internet and solitaire.
When you are writing, just write. Don't worry about flow, grammar or sentence structure. You can fix that later while editing.
Try to always carry a notebook with you to jot down ideas. You never know when inspiration will strike (such as on the bus, in line at the bank, or in the doctor's waiting room).
